Extracurricular Activities: Access and Participation
Extracurricular activities help determine whether all students have equitable access to the full benefits of education. Athletics, arts, clubs, and leadership programs must be offered on fair terms so no group is excluded or underrepresented. Reviewing program structure, participation, and resource allocation allows districts to ensure these activities promote integration rather than division. This section provides strategies and examples to guide leaders in creating inclusive programs that meet legal requirements and foster unity across schools.
